Been a while

It's been a while since I posted something on here, so thought I'd give a little update. I've been off getting married, and traveling to Iceland and the US! When I get a bit more time, I will upload some images from both. I just have one event left for the rest of the year until I have some more free time - me and the new wife are photographing our first officially wedding next weekend, so busy getting ideas and equipment together! In the mean time, here are a few pictures from the last month or so (obviously, I can't take credit for these photographs, apart from the ones in Iceland. Our photographers here were 2up Photography and in the US we had William Oliver ):

Circular Polariser

I went to Thrigby Hall a few weeks ago, and inside, they have a swamp house where they have crocodiles. I thought this threw up the perfect opportunity to demonstrate how a circular polariser works. The first image is without the filter on the front. The second image is exactly the same, same conditions, taken just after the first, but with the polariser on full effect. I love filters, I use my polariser and ND Grad filters quite a bit, it's always great when they pay off too. People quite often revert to Photoshop to add effects, I'd love to see someone replicate the effect a polariser can on reflections in water!

Canon EF 28mm f2.8

I got a copy of a Canon EF 28mm f2.8 for my 500d this weekend, so took it out and about to see how it was (it was purchased second hand, so you never know what it will be like). My cat's are very poor at posing for pictures, they're not really fans of me sticking a camera in their face, this little fella didn't seem to mind as I photographed him crawling his way up our hill though. Very nice lens, more comfortable to use as a walkaround prime lens on a cropped sensor comparted to the "nifty-fifty" I own. Still worked very well, considering I looked up the manufactures code to see when it was made, and happened to be 1988!

Tilt Shift Mundesley

Visited Mundesley Beach yesterday, glorious day. With a packed beach, I thought it would be a good idea to try out some tilt shift work.

Golf in the Water

I've not posted on here for a long while, other things have taken over a bit! Here's a few pictures taken at Mattishall Golf Course. My brother taking some shots of me and me taking some shots of my brother in law. I'm sure we didn't have to play out of the water, but where's the fun in that - we made the shots too. I've also noticed that the right hand column on my blog has gone to the bottom of the page, no idea why, and not sure how to fix it, need to set some time aside to fix that.....

Garden Shrub

We bought a shrub for the front garden a year ago, and after a year of doing nothing, in the last week, its started to flower. I'll have to wait to speak to Heather to ask what's called. Looks lovely nonetheless?!

Turn of Summer

Within a week, with all the rain and burst of sunshine we've had, the rape fields have started to show themselves. I took a couple of pictures, and tinkered with a texture I photographed and overlayed (a cardboard box I had).

Cromer

Took a trip to Cromer over the Easter weekend, despite the typical English weather, and a resistance from Heather! Converted these to black and white as this definitely compliments the conditions.

Storm brewing

On my way home today, I had to pull over and take a few photos just before a storm came along (compared to the lack of rain we've had, it was a storm...)

Happisburgh Birthday Weekend

For my birthday, Heather took me to the Norfolk coast for a long weekend, making use of the wonderful weather. The seals are round the coast at Horsey, must've been over 200 seals sun bathing, and I was lucky enough to crawl right up to them to get some photos. Seemed very easy once they got used to me, might have to go back when they start having pups! Heather took the first and last of these photos

Snowdrops

The snowdrops are up in the garden again, so another chance to photograph them. Paddy was kicking about today too, so a rare photo of him included.
