3 Peaks Completed!

So, I'm back from a weekend completing the 3 Peaks challenge, I'm sat back at my desk at work trying not to stand up very often. Due to the problem standing, and once up, walking. Thighs are a touch stiff today!

We completed the 3 peaks in around 27hrs, so just over the 24hr mark, but we like to use the excuse of bad weather (80mph winds up snow topped Ben Nevis - this might be an exaggeration, but it felt like it was about that). As you can see we also completed Scafell Pike (Lake District) during the night in thick cloud, and finished with Snowdon, where we were blessed with beautiful weather.

I'm pretty certain this will be the last time I do this, but even now, people have mentioned doing it next year, and the temptation will always be there..... I may take the train up Snowdon next time though.

Here, you can really see the lack of visibility up Ben Nevis.
We also endured what we believe we 80mph winds.
During the last mile,
we had to frequently
stop and crouch right down until the winds passed.

Night walkers!

6 of us took part (plus 1 driver, who we couldn't do it without)

Just 3 of us left!

3 Peaks

This weekend, I'll be facing the 24 hr 3 peaks challenge, starting at Ben Nevis at high noon tomorrow (Saturday 18th May) and hopefully being at the foot of Snowdon the following day. Someone at my work, James, is climbing Kilimanjaro in the summer, so as preparation, is doing the 3 peaks challenge. He is raising money for the charity Tommy's here. Me and my brother are joining him for what will be a return to the 3 peaks, 10 years since we last did the challenge. We did that in 36 hours, which then followed with a 75 mile paddle along the River Spey. I'm not sure I'm in as good a shape as I was back then, but very much looking forward to the challenge.

I think what also enticed me, was the chance to go back to those peaks and get some nice shots... here's hoping it's not too misty.

I will post some photos from the trip upon my return, but for now, here's what I will hopefully be looking at over the weekend. This is from 2009 when me and Heather climbed Scafell Pike during a trip to the Lake District.
